Jane has worked in planning and resource management in the Nelson - Tasman, Marlborough, West Coast and Canterbury regions. She teamed with Peter to form Planscapes in 2006.
Having experience in both private practice and local authority planning, Jane has an appreciation of the processes and development outcomes facing both private clients and councils. She is experienced in a range of resource management and planning consent, consultation, compliance and policy issues, assisting clients in negotiating the legal and regulatory frameworks of the RMA and Local Government Act, resource management plans and local authority consent processes. She has worked across a range of land use, subdivision and coastal projects for private, corporate, industry and public sector clients and, for larger projects with multiple district and regional consenting requirements, has co-ordinated and managed teams of technical experts.
Jane has appeared as an expert witness at Council, Environment Court, High Court and Land Valuation Tribunal hearings.
Darron Jones

Darron has 20 years experience in surveying and civil engineering and has worked on a variety of sites in Canterbury, London and Nelson/Tasman.
Darron is experienced in all aspects of the subdivision and land development process from two lot subdivision to multi lot greenfield developments. He specialises in cadastral surveying, topographical surveys, subdivision engineering design and setout, project management, contract administration, high accuracy building setout and volume surveys.
Outside of work, Darron enjoys spending time with his two sons. He enjoys getting outdoors either running, mountain biking, orienteering, kayaking, hiking and has recently completed the Godzone Adventure Race.
Peter Newbury

Peter formed Planscapes with Jane in 2006 and has over 30 years experience in the surveying industry. He has worked mainly for private consultancies within New Zealand with a short break working on a Cyclone Reconstruction Roading Contract in Western Samoa.
Peter is experienced in all aspects of subdivision and land development from a two lot subdivision to multi lot greenfield developments. He specialises in cadastral surveying, land development and project management. His work is spread across private and public sectors involving residential, rural, commercial, and industrial land.
Tom McKnight
Resource Management Consultant
MPLAN, BSc (Geography)
Tom completed his studies at the University of Otago in 2013 before starting his planning career in Auckland the same year where he worked on critical infrastructure projects and the Draft Auckland Unitary Plan. A move to Wellington saw him gain experience in the central government policy space where he worked on studies to feed into the NPS on Urban Development Capacity, as well as initiatives focusing on biodiversity protection within local and regional planning frameworks.
Leaving NZ in 2017 for the ‘compulsory OE’ Tom travelled South America and Europe before spending a year living in Amsterdam in 2018 where he worked as a tour guide.
A desire to see hills again saw a move to Scotland and Edinburgh in 2019 where Tom worked at both Ironside Farrar Ltd and AECOM. He got good exposure to the Scottish market working on projects such as studies for the expansion of the port of Aberdeen, the EIA for the development of Longannet Power Station and various solar and windfarm planning applications in both England and Scotland.
Outside of work Tom enjoys playing basketball and cricket, fishing and getting out and about around the Nelson / Tasman area.
Hayden Taylor

Hayden was born and bred in Nelson and returned to join Planscapes in 2018, following time in London and Auckland.
Hayden has experience in both the public and private sectors, having been both a Senior Planner and Team Leader for Auckland Council before working for a private consultancy in Auckland. He has managed a wide range of complex development projects and has provided expert evidence before Council hearings and in Environment Court.
Hayden has particular interest and extensive experience in urban intensification and redevelopment projects. His education in natural sciences and previous experience in adventure tourism also provide Hayden with a keen interest and relevant background in relation to tourism, natural resources and rural production activities and projects.
Hayden aims to develop lasting relationships with clients that share a positive, pragmatic attitude and he has a passion for helping clients to achieve their aspirations whilst also contributing towards making the Nelson -Tasman region a vibrant and thriving place to live.
Natasha Wilson
Resource Management Consultant

Natasha has over 15 years’ experience in resource management planning in both the public and private sectors. Prior to joining Planscapes, she was the Principal Planner in the Policy team at Nelson City Council but has also worked in policy planning in Queenstown as well as an independent consultant in the private sector in both Auckland and Wellington.
Her most recent responsibilities include residential growth and urban development for local government, but her experience includes the full spectrum of planning services including preparing and processing Council and private plan changes, undertaking feasibility testing, community engagement, preparing resource consent applications and presenting at Council hearings. Natasha has a strong interest in policy planning and having worked with and for a mix of private, corporate and local government organisations, understands how to achieve the client’s desired outcomes within the RMA framework.
Outside work Natasha enjoys spending time with her family in the outdoors in the Nelson and Marlborough regions and being part of the Nelson community.
Tayla Carson
Resource Management Consultant
MBM, BSc (Environmental Planning and Earth Science)
Tayla completed her studies at the University of Waikato in 2017 before starting her planning career. Tayla has experience in both the public and private sectors as a Council Planner for Invercargill City Council, Environment Southland and Nelson City Council before working for a private consultancy in Nelson.
Tayla loves to travel and spent a year living in Amsterdam in 2019 where she worked in marketing for a Dutch company. Relocating to Nelson in 2020 she considers Nelson to be home now.
Outside of work Tayla is a keen mountain biker and helps to run the events for the Nelson Mountain Bike Club as a committee member. She also enjoys outdoor rock climbing, plays hockey and gets out and about on the numerous hikes available in our region.
