RESOURCE MANAGEMENT

Consents & Related Processes

Obtaining resource consent can be a pre-requisite to building development and establishment of new business ventures, and is the first stage in land subdivision.

Our resource management team offers property development advice, and assistance in obtaining resource consents under the Resource Management Act, National Environmental Standards and other regulations.

We also have experience in related processes – such as District Plan Submissions, Plan Change Requests and Structure Plans, designations, advice on Council Long Term Plans and Certificates of Compliance – which often have longer term objectives for clients.

We have prepared for and appeared as an Expert Witness for Council, Environment Court, High Court and Land Valuation Tribunal hearings.

More than just Land Development

Our involvement in resource management encompasses far more than land development. It may also relate to river and water resources, conservation estate, the coastal environment, community events and buildings, recreational opportunities and air quality.

In addition to our knowledge in interpreting and negotiating resource management plans and the resource consent process, we will consult with Councils, affected parties and other interested persons in order to best facilitate favorable and cost effective outcomes for our clients.

The scale of our projects can vary enormously. We are just as comfortable helping private property owners as we are being part of or leading multi-disciplinary project teams in a collaborative approach to resource management issues and projects.

Our clients range from residential or commercial property owners, to large corporates, developers and local authorities.  Their projects often span both the natural and built environments, utilising our experience to find sustainable solutions and navigate the regulatory pathways associated with land, water and coastal resources.
